Our NYC Guide to the Outdoors

...where to drink outdoors that is.

Summer in NYC means more daylight for brunch, coffee, or cocktails. Below we put together our favorite spots for weekday or weekend meetups across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.

#1: Freehold

Williamsburg - Self proclaimed "hotel without the rooms." Freehold has great DJ's on the weekends, amazing weekday food and drink specials, and games. You can ask the hostess (aka "concierge") for board games or there is a game room in back.

** Lines get very long on summer weekends.

#2: Pier A

Financial District - Breezy gem on the edge NYC's towering financial district. Pier A has great food options whether you want to keep it casual or dress up.

**Make sure you get a table if you want to order food.

#3: Cafe Erzulie

Bushwick - Cafe Erzulie feels like the backyard you wish you had, along with tons of neighbors interesting enough you might even put the effort into knowing them.

**Cafe everyday, with a bar somedays. Make sure you check ahead.

#4: Anable Basin

Long Island City - Anable Basin is a down to earth, unpretentious spot on very pretentious real estate. Amazing views, none of the fuss.

**Cash only, pet and kid friendly.

Pod39.jpg

#5: Pod 39

Midtown - Amazing rooftop views, with a buzzing happy hour. Pod 39 rooftop (aka Salvation Taco rooftop) feels like you're in non-existent NYC ruins.

**Go early or access is tough

 during happy hour.

#6: Pier 17

Financial District - Pier 17 feels a bit like the tourist trap you normally try to avoid, but with such good views of the Brooklyn bridge you're ok with the trapping.

**Children are allowed...positive or negative take it as you will ;)

#7: Huckleberry Bar

Williamsburg - Huckleberry Bar has a dreamy backyard with a serious cocktail game.

** Great happy hour cocktail deals.

#9: Cafe at the Standard

East Village - Charming cafe with tasty cocktails. The Cafe at the Standard is perfect for a casual daytime stop in, it also has a great lunch menu if you are looking for a bite.

**Cafe garden next door (also part of the hotel) opens in the evening for an even more romantic feel.

#10: Jimmy at the James

Soho - Sceney rooftop on the James hotel. Jimmy at the James has some of the best views in NYC... plus a pool in Manhattan always makes for a lux environment.

** $$$$ drinks, but the view makes it worth it.
